It was a huge disappointment filled with retarded filler that shamelessly panders to a wider audience whilst being artificially extended into a trilogy, milked for maximized profit. Discuss.

Eh, I haven't seen it. Can't say I'm that big into the LoTR universe myself. It does sound kinda exploitative but hey, some people have liked it, so, *shrugs* I may check it out some time, see how it is. Wish I could've gotten into the books, but hot damn. I just didn't dig Tolkien's work, more than just the long description. Didn't suck me in, was just... eh. Maybe I outta give it another go some time.
PLEASE DON'T BURN ME AT THE STAKE.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I read the book, and honestly it was more like a two part movie at the most

It was exactly what I expected, which was a faithful retelling of the first 3rd of the book with MOST of the scenes being accurate. I do agree that it probably shouldn't be a trilogy, and honestly I didn't see the beginning, which is what I assume you are talking about when you mean filler, as too slow because it has to establish all the dwarves and Bilbo as a character.

The Hobbit is one of my favorite books and I didn't think the movie did THAT bad of a job. I tried to look at the movie as a completely separate entity, not related to the book. Then, the movie was pretty enjoyable. Yes, they did add a lot of bs that they probably didn't need to. I think it's ridiculous they they're making a trilogy out of a tiny book. That's probably why they're adding so much filler, there wasn't enough story in the book to make into three movies. The cinematography and visual effects were very well done. I always love the expansive landscapes of New Zealand.
